Ammonites were cephalopods with a coiled shell divided into chambers. They were found in the Devonian Period 395 million years ago. They resembled the Squid or the Octopus.
Orthoceras were marine animals similar to the modern squid. They lived during the Paleozoic Era 400 million years ago. They had a cone shaped shell & existed in shallow waters.
Fossil Fish Name: Knightia Alto Age: Eocene Location: Lincoln County, Wyoming 45 million years ago this fossil fish lived in a fresh water lake between mountain ranges. The climate was similar to the southeastern states and the rainfall was 30-40 inches annually. |
